XDefiant In-Game Store (Free due to title sunsetting on Season 3)
Character skin work that I was fully responsible for while at Ubisoft on the FTP shooter XDefiant. This was my second Spectra skin line character actually, reusing exactly the same shaders and same features from the original Green character skin. This time I was tasked with developing him entirely without any concept. So from start to finish the layouts and locations of surface materials and features were initially decided by me and then I was advised later on places to adjust for polish. Due to inspection mode not being available in game as the title has been sunsetted for next summer most shots here are only early devs with very few showing the final end look. In the end the huge shoulder gem stones deemed too cutsey were replaced with a smaller skull pattern, the attachment pouches in the front had the holographic liquid removed for normal black fabric, and the rear pouch was retextured to look more like an auxillary battery pack/pouch of some sort. As mentioned before I did not work on other Spectra line skins after my departure from the studio however same intention to house the displacement illusion solely within these panel "windows" which held a suspended fluid like substance is how this projection trick was always meant to be presented. In this way the holographic bone parts will appear more as if they are internal to the character model's body rather than just being slapped on top of the surface.
