Working on a short film in unreal 5 that I can hopefully finish before the movies release. The long and short of it is I am using CC4 characters as a base and walking them out into Maya to add on additional animal parts and bones, then reskinning some in Maya and walking the new rigs as Humanoids jailbroken back into CC4 to ship them over into iClone and smoothly import the characters in complete with facial rigging and morph sliders. Just like I did with Bunnies test I added secondary motion stuff via physics bones within Unreal directly on the physics assets, no control rig springs as I am not to keen on how to set that up. So far I have completed Shadow and his physics assets. I plan to move on to creating Maria Robotnik and if there is time Gerald Robotnik then finally kit bashing together something that resembles the Space Color Ark in order to start filming hopefully end of October.
Everything in scene is real time, I purchased a gumroad shader asset for the fur cards which I later edited to add or tune my own features, applied to hair card maps that I created in FiberShop. Currently an MPC is used to make Shadows quills/spines light up with an emissive effect. Side note, I didnt really like the real movies preview design of Shadows air shoes so I made my own. My taste of Sonic fan art kinda leans more into a darker more Cyberpunk like timeline and level of detail so I created my own variation of what I think a new redesigned version of Shadows shoes should look like. Added some suspension like mechanical design to it just because I thought it would make the shoes seem cooler.
I have to use CC4 because I am only a texturing-modeling art dev, no animation, certainly no rigging and I'm barely understanding how to do and fix my own skin weights. If you are a CC4 user and have questions about how to jailbreak and bring in your own assets with custom bones while still getting the thing to recognize them as at least humanoid characters 8non CC4 enabled avatars anymore) then please feel free to follow my daily dev sessions on youtube. They will leave the bread crumbs to any and all questions you may have. I dont have time to break stuff down into edited short to the point tutorial vids so please manage with whats available.
